Looking Professional - Tip 4
If you have a domain name - Use It - using your domain name makes you look professional and focussed on your business.
Everyone connected to the Internet gets a free POP mailbox (a holding mailbox) with their account, provided to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you have an Xtra broadband connection then your POP mailbox will be something like spiralweb@xtra.co.nz - Ok for home - not very professional for work.
Which looks more professional?
We set up all our hosted clients with email forwarding, sometimes called mail
mapping, where we collect any mail addressed to them at their domain and forward
it to a POP mailbox or sometimes a Hotmail mailbox. Instead of
spiralweb@xtra.co.nz
you see
audrey@spiral.co.nz
which do you think looks more professional.
If you have a domain and are not using the personalised form of your email PLEASE contact your web designer and ask them to set it up for you. If you are a Spiral client then it's already setup and just a phone call to us will have you sorted and using your new email within no time.
Put it on your business card
I can't stress this enough - there are a whole swag of business cards in my draw that make me wonder if the person is working for Xtra? Use your domain name on your business card.
Use your domain name - make it work for you - look professional - use yourname@yourdomain.co.nz everywhere, especially on your business card.
