Put some love into your signature

Your signature at the bottom of your emails has the potential to work for you. At the very least it should include your :

  • name
  • position
  • contact details
  • URL of your website

Make your signature stand out from the crowd, ideally it should be short and catchy – no one wants to read screeds – you can include a quote if that suits your style and your byline if you have one. If you have a special promotion – include it your signature for the duration.

Take care if you add an image, such as a photo or your logo, to your signature. For those people that can receive HTML emails it will look great, for all the rest it will show as a little box with an x in it. Create your signature so that it looks great when receiving HTML and degrades nicely to look ok with plain text email.

Your email signature has the potential to work for you, it can convey a lot about you and your business and takes only a few minutes to set up. It's also a good idea to have a separate signature for personal emails or leave the signature off altogether.
